Just the phrase ‘Celestial Navigation’ sounds cool! Today, we have satellites in low earth orbit that can tell us where we are at any point on earth. But back in the day adventurers on land and sea had to rely on God’s Creation to know where they were by looking at the stars in the heavens. In other words, if you wanted to know where you were and where you were going, you had to look up!

CELESTIAL NAVIGATION FOR BELIEVERS

From a Spiritual Perspective, that hasn’t changed a bit. We have to ‘look toward the divine’, God’s Holy Spirit and His Word, to get our spiritual coordinates. In His mercy He lets us know ‘we can’t get there from here’ without Jesus. We’re born into a world of sin, as sinners, floating lost in an ocean without any shores. But when we look to God’s Word, which is from above, it tells us Jesus is the Life Preserver we’re desperately in need of! When we look up, we can find our way.
Paul was inspired by God to put it this way:
Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
