“Your kingdom come, Your will be done.” (Matthew 6:10)
These words may be familiar to you as part of the prayer Jesus taught the disciples at their request. This part of the prayer is very close to its beginning. It’s right after Jesus teaches them God’s place and position in comparison to their own: “Our Father, Who is in heaven, hallowed be Your Name.” Next, we’re taught a powerful and comforting truth: “Your kingdom come, Your will be done.” This proclamation is true because God’s ultimate plan cannot be stopped. All those who trust in Christ will be saved and conformed to His image and live with Him forever.
A NOTE ABOUT MAN’S WILL
Let me quickly differentiate between God’s “Will” in His ultimate plan and the words in 2nd Peter 3:9. “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” This passage is tells us it’s not God’s will that anyone goes to Hell, but man’s will that gets him there.
God’s will for man’s eternity is powerful. But it’s still the freewill foundation of love that man has been given incredible power to wield for, or against, Christ. To accept or deny Jesus’ free gift of the cross.
In the prayer Jesus teaches His disciples, He refers to God’s will being ultimately accomplished in spite of man’s best attempts to defy Him, deny Him, or define Him. God’s ultimate plan is perfectly woven through the world’s failures before they were even committed because it is outside of His creation of time.
A KINGDOM ON THE MOVE
The four maps shown above are why I wanted to share about this today. Notice the the amount of Israel controlled by Palestinians in 1946 (area in green), versus the amount controlled by God’s chosen nation, Israel in 2012 (area in white). God is moving His nation home… and at a very rapid pace.
It’s apparent in news reports from around the world that Israel is probably the most despised and relegated nation on the earth. And yet, its regathering, its divine protection, and future place as God’s chosen land is happening in front of our very eyes. His kingdom will come, and His will is being done. He is the “I AM,” and His plan “WILL BE.”
Remember, God loves you, and God has a plan for your life.
